Junior Choir

The Junior Choir is open to all youth registered in the Parish who are in grades six – eight.  Members of the Junior Choir sing periodically at the 12:00 mass, and serve as Junior Cantors for the Parish Children’s Choir.  Rehearsals alternate between Tuesdays from 4-5 PM and Wednesdays with the Children’s Choir.  Junior Choir members should have a love of singing, and strong voices.  Previous experience in the Children’s Choir or a school choir encouraged, but not necessary for this ministry.  The Junior Choir meets from September through May.

Cantare Ensembles

Cantare (which means, “to sing”) includes members of the Praise Choir, Women’s Schola, and other small vocal ensembles within the Parish Choir.  Members are selected primarily from the Parish Choir, and have the opportunity to sing as scheduled for Parish Feast days at the 12:00 mass, as well as the Live Stations during the Lenten season.  Ensembles and musical repertoire will vary.  Cantare ensembles will sing as scheduled from September through June.

Instrumentalists*

Instrumentalists are needed to support the various vocal ensembles at St. Joseph’s.  These include:  Guitar (rhythm & bass); keyboard; percussion (set & hand-drums), as well as brass (trumpet, trombone), woodwind (flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon), and other auxiliary instruments.  Instrumentalists will commit to scheduled masses with vocal ensembles, as determined, as well as appropriate rehearsals.  Life Teen instrumentalists (rhythm section) commit to weekly rehearsals and the 5:30 PM Sunday evening mass.  Instrumentalists may be all ages – previous experience in school and/or private instruction, as well as basic musicianship skills are needed to adequately fulfill this ministry.  Instrumentalists will be scheduled from September through June.
